Well, the simple answer is in the bar mixing up some cocktails. But in reality, I’ve been busy with work and life. Yup, things we often get caught up in occasionally…and unfortunately, dear reader, you got caught in the jet wash (so to speak).

I feel bad…truly (okay, not THAT bad). But I thought that today would be a perfect day to get a post out there, as it is Halloween! And to celebrate, I wanted to give you a couple of my ghoulishly delicious concoctions.

For those who like their cocktails on a sweeter side, I have the Witches Brew!

Witches Brew

This drink tends to be a bit sweet if you follow the stock directions, so you might want to look at the alternate ingredient measurements if you want something not as sweet…I.E., add more vodka 🙂

1.5 oz Tito’s Vodka (2 oz)

1 oz Blue Curacao

1 oz sweet and sour mix (or just lime is you don’t want something as sweet … you can also add some lime to add a bit of tartness to offset the sweetness – ½ oz)

1 oz grenadine (½ oz)

1 oz Ocean Spray Cranberry Juice (½ oz)

Combine all ingredients in a cocktail shaker filled with ice. Shake until combined, then pour into a glass filled with ice. Optionally add black or purple sanding sugar to the rim – available at most craft stores. (If adding sugar to the rim, this would be Step 1…duh).

For something a bit more simple, I give you the Poisoned Apple!

Poisoned Apple

2 oz apple cider

1 oz pomegranate juice

2 oz El Jimador Tequila (or silver tequila)

Several chips of dry ice

Combine ingredients with ice in a martini shaker. Shake to mix and strain into a chilled martini glass. Add dry ice to the glasses just before serving. And by the way, do NOT let your guests actually DRINK the dry ice, it’s for effect only…again, duh.

I hope you enjoy this cocktail, and I hope that I get around to more posts as the Holidays roll around; after all, tomorrow is the official start of the Christmas Season!

Drink well,

Steve
