Okay, so you go into a new bar and scope it out. You get a feel for the patronage that hangs out there, and bar tenders, and the type of drinks that you can order in the joint (if anything with Jell-o is on that menu, leave). You’re sitting at the bar itself, and suddenly you hear a drink that you used to LOVE, but haven’t had in AGES! Well, that was the Martinez for me a few weeks ago.
If you haven’t had one, you really must try it. It’s a nice, smooth gin martini with amazing flavor…plus, it super easy to make. My guess is that you already have everything in your bar to make it, with maybe one exception. So, without further ado, here is the Martinez:
1 ½ oz gin
1 ½ oz sweet vermouth
1 teaspoon of maraschino liqueur
2 dashes of bitters
Garnish – orange peel
Build just like a martini; stir all ingredients over ice. Pour entire contents into highball glass. Garnish with orange peel, and enjoy!
Trust me, you’ll love this…happy drinking!
