The Breakfast Martini
martini · gin
Brunch in a coupe, for the mornings that have earned a lie-in. Work the marmalade into the gin until it disappears before any ice goes near it, then strain twice, or the last sip gets chewy. Toast was never this ambitious.

Ingredients
- 2 ozGin
- ¾ ozOrange liqueur
- ¾ ozOrange marmalade
Garnish
Orange zest, from a zester, over the top
Method
Add the gin and marmalade to a shaker and stir until the marmalade has dissolved. Add the orange liqueur and ice, and shake hard. Double strain into a chilled coupe or martini glass. Zest orange rind over the top.
Steve’s notes
Use a zester and get the orange rind right over the glass. The orange zest is what ties it to the orange liqueur and the marmalade. I don't use lemon, but ¾ oz of fresh lemon juice is the way to vary it if you want it sharper and less jammy.
