Salted Caramel White Russian
A great Holiday cocktail...a White Russian with a twist :)
Transcript
Hello everybody. It is after four o'clock Pacific time on Friday, which means it's time for a cocktail. Today is probably the last one we'll do this year, end of 2020. It's been an interesting year, but even though it's been kind of crappy, I think a lot of us have a lot to be thankful for. I know I'm thankful for my friends, my family during these crazy times.
I'm definitely thankful for total wine and liquor stores, super happy about that, and for those of you that have lost loved ones during the pandemic to covid, I'm truly sorry. Hopefully help is on the way, in the form of vaccine, that hopefully by this time next year things will be closer to normal than they are now. But today, let's go ahead and get started with this drink. It's super yummy, as you can kind of see, someone's at the door, as you can see.
It's Christmas time. I've lost a little bit of weight from last year. I think my wife probably enjoys that though. And, I'm super excited to get this thing going. So, for, for this drink, it's pretty easy. We've got a few different ingredients. We've got our salted caramel bourbon. I like this Ellingson stuff. There's different types of salted caramel bourbon you can get. This is the kind I use. We have some amaretto.
I'm ready, you can just use just about anything you like. Some people have a flavor that they like. We're getting some amaretto. This one's dealer's choice. You can use either Irish cream or you can use bourbon cream. Okay, we need some heavy whipping cream, and we need some melted caramel, okay. So this is just caramel chunks with half and half, okay. Super good. Now if you've never had salted caramel bourbon, I highly suggest you try some, because it's super yummy. Normally I don't drink this in drinks, I just drink it on the rocks, because it is so delightful.
Cheers. So there's that, but if you haven't tried it, like everything else you should try. I'm not sure. Alexa's not sure about anything. I can't stand it. I'm not quite sure how to help you with that. No, Alexa, shut up. Technology, hope that's also one of the things that gets better in 2021. So we've got all of our ingredients.
The very first thing we're going to do is we're going to take that melted. Okay, doesn't caramel to be super melted or anything like that. What we're gonna do, you want to take our high ball glass, we're gonna kind of paint the bottom. So I'm just got some good on there, just kind of kind of paint the bottom from the bottom up with caramel, okay, now you can use as much as you want. I kind of do this in quarters.
So I'm just kind of putting this yummy caramel drizzle. It's nice and nice and gooey and warm, that kind of came out the wrong way, but I'm just kind of painting the glass with caramel. Super easy to do. Like I said, you can use a lot of this caramel. You can use as much as you want, or not enough, or whatever, it's it's up to you on how much you want to put in there. And what it's going to do is just going to give the drink some extra caramel flavor when we're all done with it.
If you've got caramel sauce, it kind of tends to drip to the bottom and just mix around the drink. The nice thing about actually using, like, melted caramel is that it sticks to the glass, right, and it's not gonna come off. So we got our glass done, now let's go ahead and make this drink. Okay, so the first thing we're gonna do, got our jigger got all this stuff going, we're gonna add our booze. We're going to add an ounce of salted caramel bourbon.
After that, we're going to add an ounce and a half of either Irish cream or bourbon cream, either one. I'm going to use some Irish cream, mostly because I just want to get rid of this bottle. Normally I'd probably use bourbon cream, so we've got an ounce and a half of that. We're going to use an ounce of amaretto.
Oops, long bottom, an ounce of amaretto. There we go, I'm going to use one and a half ounces of that heavy whipping cream, Heavy whipping cream, I'm gonna use an ounce and a half of this, so, once again, we have an ounce of the bourbon, an ounce and a half of the Irish cream or bourbon cream, an ounce of the amaretto, and an ounce and a half of the heavy whipping cream.
Put in our shaker. I'm going to take some ice, put it in the shaker. Okay, shake that bad boy. Okay, now we're going to go back to our highball glass that we painted with caramel.
I'm going to put some ice in there, I've got one of these big ass eyeball ice chunks that I like to use, I'm going to take this, I'm just going to dump it in there. That's what I'm talking about. That's it, all there's to it, the only real prep work is the caramel, right, and that's just mostly heavy whipping cream or half and half caramel chunks.
Microwave it or boil it over a double boiler and make that stuff and then you just paint your glass, and now you've got a salted caramel White whiskey, or a white Russian. Oh man, not super good. I drink a lot of white white Russians when I was younger. I stopped drinking for some reason, I don't know why, but this is way better than that.
Man, that's some good stuff. These drinks should be enjoyed, probably a little bit leisurely, more leisurely than I'm drinking them. But you get the point, so that's it. We've been through a lot over the last year, emotionally, physically, financially, everyone's tired, everyone's ready for a new year. But just remember, at the end of this year, as we're going into the Christmas season, why we celebrate Christmas in the first place, that's the birth of Christ, our savior.
So keep that in mind, keep loving your heart, wish and pray for a happier and healthier 2021 in the new year. And in the meantime, drink a salted caramel White Russian, and go back and drink a bunch of other stuff we've made this year, it's all good stuff. So I hope you guys enjoyed it. Merry Christmas everybody, happy new year. I hope that you get everything that you want and deserve, and I hope that next year is much safer, much saner, and that we come through this on the other side unscathed, and with that have a merry Christmas and happening everybody.
Cheers.
