Crème de violette runs this one, and it turns a decent gin sour the color of a bruise. Keep it to a half ounce — past that the florals go from perfume to potpourri, and the maraschino is already sweetening plenty. I've overpoured it and drunk it anyway.
Ingredients
Where there's a range: the low end is lighter, the high end is fuller.
- 2 ozGin
- ½ ozMaraschino liqueur
- ½ ozCreme de violette or creme Yvette — although creme de cassis is yummy, as is elderberry liqueur
- ½–¾ ozFresh lemon juice
Garnish
Brandied cherry
Method
Pour all contents into a shaker filled with ice and shake. Then pour shaken drinks into highball glass. Garnish each with a cherry and serve.
