Martinez
The vermouth is not a rinse here; there's half as much of it as gin. Start the maraschino at a quarter ounce, because it will take the whole glass given the chance. I make these when I want a Martini and also want to keep talking.
Ingredients
Where there's a range: the low end is lighter, the high end is fuller.
- 3 ozGin
- 1½ ozSweet vermouth
- ¼–½ ozMaraschino liqueur
- 3–4 dashesBitters
Garnish
Orange peel and a Maraschino cherry
Method
Build just like a martini; stir all ingredients over ice...or shake them, dealer's choice (I do prefer a good shake). Pour entire contents into martini glass. Garnish with a Maraschino cherry or two, rim the glass with your orange peel, and enjoy!
