Ingredients: 1 Orange wedge; 2 Maraschino cherries; ¼ oz Simple syrup — 8ml; 2 oz Bourbon — 60ml; 2 dashes Angostura bitters

Cloudy, pulpy, faintly pink at the bottom — this is the one purists point at when they want to explain what an Old Fashioned isn't. The muddled fruit is doing real sweetening work, so a quarter ounce of syrup is plenty and a half turns it into dessert. I've heard all the arguments and I keep making it anyway.

Ingredients

1Orange wedge
2Maraschino cherries
¼ ozSimple syrup — 8ml
2 ozBourbon — 60ml
2 dashesAngostura bitters

Method

Muddle the orange wedge and maraschino cherries with the simple syrup and bourbon. Add small ice cubes and the Angostura bitters. Stir and serve.
