Steve's French Martini

martini · vodka · gin

There's no vermouth in it and it's still called a martini. The pineapple juice is what makes the foam, so shake it like you mean it, and keep the cassis at a quarter ounce — it's there for color and a little sweetness, not to take over. The recipe offers vodka or gin. It's gin. I've stopped pretending that's a choice.

Ingredients

  • 2 ozVodka or GinSteve's note: WAY better with gin
  • ¾ ozPineapple juice
  • ¼ ozCrème de cassis liqueura sweet, dark red liqueur made from blackcurrants; think about substitutes here

Method

Steve’s notes

Crème de cassis liqueur - Drillaud cordials are an excellent way to add elegance to your favorite cocktail, or to create something your very own. This creme de cassis is intense and sweet. It imparts a mellow bouquet of fresh black-currant with exceptional smoothness. Best when added to a unique cocktail.
