Apple brandy is the deciding vote, pulling the whiskeys and the Cognac into one spirit instead of a pileup. Keep the pours equal — go heavy on any of them and whichever one won does all the talking. It builds right in the glass, which is why I make these for people who can't agree on a bottle.
Ingredients
- ½ ozapple brandy
- ½ ozrye
- ½ ozbourbon
- ½ ozCognac — in a pinch, substitute Sherry (or other) - especially when cold
- 2 barspoonsdemerara syrup
- 2 dashesbitters
- 1 dashMexican chocolate bitters
- —apple slice — garnish
Garnish
Apple wedge (or orange or lemon twist)
Method
Build directly in your highball glass and add ice. Garnish with an apple wedge (or use orange or lemon twist).
