The Southern Peach Manhattan
manhattan · bourbon
A Manhattan that went south, blended a peach into itself, and stopped taking questions. The vermouth is barely there on purpose, a capful rather than a pour, or the peach loses the argument. Sweet, unsubtle, and very hard to dislike in August.
Ingredients
- ½ largeRipe peach or nectarine — skinned & sliced into wedges
- 2 ozPeach Schnapps
- 3 ozBourbon — good bourbon, e.g. Maker's Mark, Knob Creek
- 1 capfulSweet vermouth
Garnish
Maraschino cherry or peach slice
Method
In a small blender or food processor, blend together peaches and Schnapps until smooth. You can strain through a sieve if you want the cocktail really smooth or just leave as is if you don't mind (or are just really thirsty!). Pour peach mixture into a cocktail shaker filled with ice. Add Bourbon and Vermouth and shake vigorously. Pour into a martini glass. Garnish with a thin slice of peach or a maraschino cherry. Enjoy!
