Smokey Mountain Martini
martini · gin · bourbon
Some evenings you want a Martini and the vermouth in the fridge is older than the fridge. The bourbon is doing most of the sweetening here, so the vermouth stays at a capful — seasoning, not structure. Use Scotch instead of the bourbon and it earns the smoke.
Ingredients
Where there's a range: the low end is lighter, the high end is fuller.
- 1½–2 ozGin
- ½ ozBourbon — or Scotch for a smokier flavor
- 1 capfulSweet vermouth — dealer's choice
- 2 dashesBitters — optional (optional)
Garnish
2 stuffed olives
Method
Shake gin and bourbon over ice. Pour one cap of vermouth into a martini glass (or add to the shaker and shake with the drink); pour contents of the shaker into the glass. Add olives. Can add 2 dashes of bitters into the shaker if wanted.
