Bright red in the glass, and it lands as citrus first — the bitterness shows up a beat later, from underneath. Press the mint gently and stop there; crush it and you get chlorophyll, which tastes like a lawn. Equal parts makes it drink like juice, which is how I lose afternoons.

Ingredients

  • 1 ozBourbon
  • 1 ozLemon juice
  • 1 ozOrange juice
  • 1 ozCynar or CampariCampari is preferred
  • ½ ozSimple syrup
  • Fresh mint leaves

Garnish

Orange wheel (optional)

Method

Pour the ingredients into a shaker and gently muddle the mint (do not crush; you do not want to express the chlorophyll from the leaves); fill with ice. Shake gently and strain into a Collins glass filled with fresh ice. Garnish with an orange wheel and enjoy.
