Vampire Margarita
margarita · tequila
Blackberries and sage muddled into a margarita, which sounds like a Halloween gimmick right up until it turns out to be tart and genuinely good. It wants more maple than you think, because a teaspoon barely registers against that much lemon. The dry ice is theatre, and the theatre is allowed.
Ingredients
- 2 ozJose Cuervo Especial Silver Tequila
- 1 ozlemon juice
- 8blackberries
- 5 leavesfresh sage
- 1 tspmaple syrup — may need more, this is a tart margarita
- 1 dashorange bitters
Garnish
Dried sage leaves, blackberries, dry ice (all optional)
Method
Muddle blackberries and fresh sage in a cocktail shaker. Pour in tequila, lemon juice, bitters, and maple syrup and shake. Pour mixture over ice (or dry ice). If garnishing with dried sage, light the tip of it on fire right before serving. DRY ICE WARNING: do not drink the cocktail until the dry ice has completely melted.
Steve’s notes
Dry ice warning: do not drink until dry ice has completely melted. Optional garnish of dried sage may be flamed tableside - use caution.
